Mr. Stephenson is a former Managing Director of Milestone and also served on Milestone's Board of Directors. He is currently the deputy Chief Executive Officer of The Rompetrol Group, a portfolio company of Milestone's IEP Romania & Moldova Direct Fund, LP. Rompetrol is a vertically integrated energy company and the largest private enterprise (i.e., not state-owned) in Romania. He was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of International Equity Partners, L.P. Prior to founding IEP in 1993, he was appointed by President Bush as a senior official in the Office of International Affairs at the US Treasury Department (1991 - 1993) where he focused on financial issues relating to the break-up of the former Soviet Union and the US role in multilateral financial institutions. Before joining the Department of the Treasury, he practiced corporate law in the Washington, D.C. office of Baker Botts, where he specialized in securities and international trade and investment law. Mr. Stephenson has been an Adjunct Professor of International Finance at Georgetown University and a frequent speaker at symposia on investing in emerging markets.

Mr. Stephenson received his Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude from Harvard College and his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. He is fluent in French.
